Delete your account
Readerhood, by Readerhood · Last updated: 21 October 2026
You can delete your Readerhood account, and the personal data that comes with it, at any time.
In the app
- Open the menu and tap Settings.
- Tap Delete my account, read what happens, and confirm.
- If you pay for memberships, cancel them in the App Store or Google Play too: the confirmation screen has a link for each one. Deleting your account ends your access, but only the store can stop its charges.
Without the app
Write to hello@readerhood.app from the email address of your account and ask us to delete it. We may ask you to confirm it's you. We do it within 7 days and tell you when it's done.
What happens next
- Your account is closed at once: you lose access to every club, and the month you've already paid for isn't refunded.
- For 14 days you can change your mind: log back in and tap Restore my account.
- After 14 days, your account is deleted for good.
- If you run a club, it closes 14 days after you delete your account. Its members are told in advance and aren't charged after it closes. You're paid what you've earned up to then.
What we delete
Your account, email address, username, profile photo, phone settings, your posts, photos, comments, chat messages, reactions and likes, your reading progress and lists, your clubs and their content, and the record of actions you took in the app.
What we keep, and for how long
| Data | Kept for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Payment and tax records (memberships, purchases, refunds; creators' payouts, statements, invoices) | 10 years | Greek and EU tax law |
| Reports you made or that concern you, and our decisions | 12 months after the decision | Safety, and the EU Digital Services Act |
| Counts in our own statistics (for example how many people joined a club) | While Readerhood runs | They no longer name you or your club |
| Backups | Up to 7 days, then overwritten | Restoring the service after a failure |
We may keep specific data longer only when it's needed for an open complaint, a legal claim, or a request from an authority.
